Academy of Culinary Arts Graduates Encouraged to be Inventive, Challenge Themselves and Strive for Success at Annual Awards Ceremony

For the 44 culinary and baking & pastry graduates of Atlantic Cape’s Academy of Culinary Arts (ACA), the journey started two years ago with the basic practicing of knife skills, making dead dough and learning the many time-honored traditions of the profession. Those long days and nights of work and study culminated on May 15 with the 42nd Annual ACA Awards Ceremony.

Overcoming Addiction, Breast Cancer and Homelessness, Alumna Gina Harvell’s Determination Leads to Master’s Degree in Social Work

For Atlantic City native Gina Harvell it began as a dream, one that seemed impossible and unimaginable. Homelessness and drug addiction had led her to existing day-in and day-out in the formerly-dilapidated Brown’s Park. Across from Atlantic Cape’s Atlantic City campus, it was here where Harvell would spend innumerable hours wondering, dreaming and hoping for brighter days.

Atlantic Cape’s Academy of Culinary Arts Holds Annual Beaujolais Nouveau Food & Wine Scholarship Fundraising Reception

Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts (ACA), in partnership with the Atlantic City Bailliage of Chaine des Rotisseurs, hosted the 24th Annual Beaujolais Nouveau Food & Wine Scholarship Reception on November 16 at Careme’s, the student-run gourmet restaurant on the Mays Landing campus, in M Building. The event awarded four scholarships to culinary and hospitality students, and recognized ACA alum and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Chef Deb Pellegrino.

Rebuilding Atlantic Cape Buccaneers Men’s Basketball Team Looks to Build on Successes of Past Two Seasons in 2023-24

It will be a season of change for the 2023-24 Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers Men’s Basketball team with only one student athlete returning this fall from last season’s roster. The team will look to build upon two consecutive years of positive growth, on and off of the court, that has yielded back-to-back playoff berths, top 15 national rankings, upset victories, and multiple Division I and II scholarship opportunities.

Atlantic Cape Community College held a Veterans Day observance ceremony in the Student Center lobby (G Building) on the Mays Landing campus on November 9 to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice our military veterans have selflessly given with their sweat, blood, tears and, for many, their lives over America’s 247-year history to ensure that we live free each day in peace, safety and security.

Atlantic Cape and University of Phoenix Officially Sign Agreement on RN to BSN Collaborative Cohort Program

Atlantic Cape Community College President Dr. Barbara Gaba, Dean of Nursing and Health Professions Myrna Morales-Keklak, and University of Phoenix Assistant Dean of Operations and Faculty Dr. Brandi Morse officially signed a partnership agreement creating a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) Collaborative Cohort Program between the two institutions of higher learning during a ceremony at the Mays Landing campus on Wednesday, April 26.

An elegant evening filled with delectable dishes from the area's finest local restaurants, delicious desserts and scrumptious spirits encapsulated the jovial mood by all at the 40th Annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala, which raised a record $284,575 to support the college’s Academy of Culinary Arts student scholarships, on March 9 at the Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center’s Avalon Ballroom in Atlantic City.

Atlantic Cape Hosts Scott Van Pelt Professional Development Speaker Series Discussion on the Future of Higher Education

Author, educator, higher education professional and New Jersey native Scott Van Pelt appeared at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Walter E. Edge Hall Theater on February 10 for a Speaker Series funded by the Atlantic Cape Foundation titled “The Future of Higher Education: A Time for Leadership” before college faculty and staff, as well as college professionals from throughout the state.
