General Description:
Instructional Assistants are responsible for assisting students with biology course content by planning and leading weekly review sessions.
Duties:
- Reports to the Director or Assistant Director of Academic Support Services
- Leads informal content review sessions for various biology courses such as General Biology 1 and 2, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology.
- Prepares materials in advance for review session instruction. This may include outlines, summaries, examples, and practice exercises.
- Locates and shares online resources and/or media/videos to help students with course topics.
- Communicates with instructors on a weekly basis to stay up to date on the current topics, assignments, upcoming assessments, projects, lab reports, etc.
- Leads and encourages group discussions and collaboration with students in attendance.
- Promotes an inviting and non-intimidating learning environment
- Provides individual guidance to students regarding performance issues.
- Refers students for appropriate services such as on campus or on line tutoring.
- Maintains student confidentiality
- Keeps attendance records.
- Communicates with the Director or Assistant Director of Academic Support Services regularly.
- Produces a short summary of each week’s activities to be turned in with attendance records.
- Related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: |
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products

- Position may require evenings and weekends at any Atlantic Cape location
