MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) recognized the important contributions of its many diverse student clubs and its advisors, along with acknowledging and honoring some of the College’s finest and most dedicated students, staff and faculty members at the SGA’s Annual Club Recognition Program Ceremony on May 8 in the Student Center on the Mays Landing campus.
“Tonight, we recognize and celebrate the passion, creativity and dedication that each of you have brought to our campus community. For all of the clubs and organizations, for every meeting and every event that you planned this year, please know that it did not go unnoticed. We are so proud of every achievement that each club and organization has accomplished this year,” said Dean of Students Stacey Zacharoff. “Because of you we have created opportunities for students to shine, grow and learn, but more importantly, for students to become more engaged. You have also helped to create a sense of belonging for our students.”
Special awards were presented to the following clubs and recipients in these respective categories:
- Earth Day Winner: Black Student Alliance
- Hall of Fame Award: Black Student Alliance
- Student Spotlight Awards: Saudley Delphin, president, Culinary Student Association and Jessica Gross
- Beacon of Light Award: Caesar Niglio, director of enterprise applications, Information Technology Services and president, ACCCEA
Members from Atlantic Cape’s 22 student clubs were recognized and honored with certificates for their dedication and accomplishments over the course of the 2024-25 academic year.
Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Josette Katz spoke to the importance that the College’s student clubs and organizations bring to its campuses.
“Atlantic Cape is not just a place to take classes and earn a degree. It is a community of students who come together to learn, grow and thrive. And at the heart of our community is you and all of our clubs each representing your interests, passions and aspirations. The importance of being active and involved cannot be overstated. They are a vehicle for personal and academic growth while fostering a sense of belonging, camaraderie and purpose in our student body,” said Katz. “This is my favorite month of the year. It is filled with celebrations and we get to see everyone happy, even with finals next week. We want to continue to make sure that the students feel they have a voice that they are heard, and through the clubs, this is a great way for us to know what you are thinking and what is going on.”
SGA Advisor Samantha Adelman acknowledged the leadership, commitment and dedication of the 2024-25 SGA Executive Board with plaques for President Juwan A. Torres, Vice President Michael Heston, Club Coordinator Sara Stephanie On, Secretary Het Patel, Treasurer Tasmin Ahmed and Sophomore Senator Tina Austin.
Outgoing 2024-25 SGA President and Class of 2025 graduate Juwan A. Torres presented the incoming 2025-26 SGA President Clive Morgan with the ceremonial gavel.
