WILDWOOD — Atlantic Cape Community College’s Cape May County campus was recognized as the 2023 Cape May County Betterment Award recipient at the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce’s 79th Annual Meeting and Installation Dinner at the Wildwoods Convention Center on October 18.
The Betterment Award, which was sponsored this year by Ocean View Trailer Sales, annually recognizes individuals, businesses, organizations, and government entities that contribute to enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors through impactful projects, facilities services, and educational restoration efforts that preserve Cape May county’s heritage and enrich public access.
“We are so proud to receive this award. This honor is a tribute to the staff and faculty for all of their dedication and hard work in making the Cape May campus the best it can be,” said Director of Atlantic Cape’s Cape May County campus and Community Outreach Krista Fitzsimons. “Our outreach activities have shined a light on the Cape May campus and we work hard to bring the community a quality, affordable and nurturing educational environment.”
Representing Atlantic Cape and accepting the award on the college’s behalf were President Dr. Barbara Gaba, Chief of Staff and Atlantic Cape Foundation President Jean McAlister, and Fitzsimons, who was also sworn in as a Chamber officer for the coming year.
“I want to thank the Cape May County Chamber for recognizing our efforts in providing high-quality education to our students, partnering and supporting the community, and aiding small businesses throughout Cape May County,” Gaba said. “We are committed to Cape May County and proud of the work we are doing there.”
Other annual Excellence Awards handed out on this evening included the Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Environmental Leadership Award, Young Professional Award, Military Veteran Leadership in Business Award, Non-Profit of the Year, Robert C. Patterson Jr. Spirit of Leadership Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
