Fundraising Dinner at Lake Lenape to Help Support Atlantic Cape’s Crew Athletics Program

MAYS LANDING — The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation and the Atlantic Cape Athletics Department will be hosting its inaugural Buccaneers at the Boathouse Fundraising Dinner to support the Atlantic Cape Crew program on Wednesday, October 25 at Lakeside Manor at Lake Lenape in Mays Landing.
The evening will begin with a complimentary cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner and program at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from this event will help support the Crew program and its travel expenses for the 2023-24 season. Atlantic Cape is currently one of only two community colleges in the United States, along with Orange County, California, to field a Crew program. The Buccaneer Crew team is a co-ed squad that will be competing against both two-year and four-year colleges and universities in tournaments across the country. Atlantic Cape twice previously fielded Crew teams, initially in 1972 and 1973 under the guidance of head coach Jim Wortman, and again in 1983 under head coach Thomas P. McCann, a 1973 alumnus and one of the original Crew team members. The 1972 Crew team placed third and the 1973 team fifth at the annual Dad Vail Regatta, which is the largest regular intercollegiate rowing event in the United States.
