MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College’s Casino Career Institute (CCI) is excited to be celebrating its 45th anniversary in May 2023 and the CCI will be holding several events at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus leading up to that monumental occasion.

Atlantic Cape founded the CCI in 1978 in response to the advent of gaming in the state of New Jersey. This resulted in CCI becoming the first gaming school in the nation affiliated with a fully accredited community college. Since that time, CCI has prepared thousands of students for positions in slot technology, surveillance, security, and table games and created successful customized training programs for incumbent workers in the industry.

“The Casino Career Institute (CCI) has played an important role in the Atlantic City gaming industry since its inception,” Senior Director, Workforce Development, Sherwood L. Taylor said. “Celebrating 45 years of service to the industry in May will allow CCI to reintroduce itself to the industry and residents as the place for quality, affordable training.”

On November 4, the CCI will hold its Kick Off Event from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. where attendees may meet CCI instructors and tour the 3,000-square-foot mock casino training facility. On January 13, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. an Alumni Networking event will be held for CCI alumni to gather, get reacquainted and visit the collection of alumni photos on hand to see if your younger self is prominently featured. Friday, March 10, 2023, the Alumni/New Student Dealing Competition will be held from 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. where current CCI students will take on CCI alumni in a friendly “Tapped Out” competition.

The 45th Anniversary Celebration and Casino Play Night will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. To celebrate this occasion, the CCI is asking its alumni to share their stories with the college and former classmates by visiting atlanticcape.edu/cci and clicking on the blue “Tell Us Your CCI Story” button.

The CCI provides training and consulting services supporting the gaming industry. CCI was the first licensed gaming school in the nation to be affiliated with a community college.
