Board of Trustees recognizes Atlantic Cape as Leader College, names JoAnne Barbieri Professor Emerita

The Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees conducted their monthly meeting Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Worthington Atlantic City Campus. The following motions were approved:


Academics

  • Offering the Microsoft Office Credentials Professional Series effective Fall 2022;
  • Offering the Infant/Toddler Credential Professional Series effective Fall 2022;
  • Offering the Bookkeeper Credentials Professional Series effective Fall 2022;
  • Termination of the Microsoft Office Specialist Professional Series program effective Spring 2022.

Grant Activity

  • Application and, if awarded, acceptance of up to $3,000,000 over three years from the National Science Foundation through the Racial Equity in STEM (Racial Equity) Grant;
  • Acceptance of $211,095 from the federal government through Congressionally Directed Spending to support the Cape May County BizHub.

Personnel Matters

  • Appointment of Justin Einwechter to the position of Junior Systems Administrator, Server, Cloud, and Broadcast Systems effective March 23, 2022; 
  • Appointment of Andrea Enders to the position of Program Coordinator, Enrollment Services effective April 4, 2022;
  • Appointment of Percy Hancock to the position of Security Officer I effective March 23, 2022;
  • Appointment of Michael Petner to the position of Program Coordinator, Instructional Technology effective March 23, 2022;
  • Appointment of Michelle Spica to the position of Human Resource Recruiter effective April 4, 2022;
  • Appointment of Jacob Sprague to the position of Science Lab Assistant effective March 23, 2022;
  • Appointment of Justin Tipton to the position of Security Officer I effective March 23, 2022; 
  • Resignation of Kimberly Stowell, Manager, Office of Cape May County Campus Dean and Campus Operations effective March 18, 2022.


Financial Matters

  • Accepted the FY21 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report as presented by Bowman & Company LLP. The independent audit firm will be issuing an unmodified or “clean” opinion for the financial statements, and there were no audit findings.  
  • FY21 Financial Statement for twelve months ended June 30, 2021. 
  • FY22 Financial Statement for eight months ended Feb. 28, 2022.

Other Business

  • Granting JoAnne Barbieri  the rank of Professor Emerita after serving Atlantic Cape for over 40 years as a professor in the Office Systems Technology Program;
  • Adoption of the Strategic Plan 2022-2026;
  • Recognition of April 2022 as Community College Month;
  • Recognition of the college being recertified with 2022 Leader College status from Achieving the Dream (ATD);
  • Honorary commendation of the Buccaneers Men’s Basketball team for their perseverance, success, and leadership; congratulating them for a successful season; and offering each athlete best wishes in their future endeavors.

The next meeting of the Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled for 6 p.m. April  26, 2022, at the Mays Landing campus.
