ATLANTIC CAPE COMMUNITY COLLEGE ESTABLISHES CORONAVIRUS TASK FORCE, MOVES CLASSES ONLINE
MAYS LANDING – In addition to coordination with the other institutions of higher education in New Jersey and the Atlantic and Cape May County Departments of Health, Atlantic Cape has established a Coronavirus Task Force to ensure that the College is taking all appropriate measures for the health and safety of the college community. To that end, this group will continue to meet weekly and as needed until this situation is resolved.
Actions taken thus far include; reviewing our Emergency Operations Plans, meetings with local Board of Health, and State Center for Disease Control (CDC), multiple meetings with College Presidents and Deans across the State, hiring additional part-time staff in housekeeping and increasing our cleaning and sanitizing at all three campuses, training for faculty on Blackboard to prepare for online instruction, and adding an additional week for students to remain off-campus as we prepare for online instruction. We will continue to add to this list as we prepare and implement strategies that keep our faculty, staff, and students safe.
Atlantic Cape is currently closed for spring break and additional classes will be cancelled from Monday, March 23 through Sunday, March 29 to allow faculty time to transfer in-person classes to an online format. Beginning Monday, March 30, all course instruction will be delivered remotely via Blackboard. At that time, students who want to utilize the computer lab and other support services such as advising or tutoring in the libraries at all three campuses will be able to do so. As the College’s COVID-19 Task Force continues to monitor the situation, please visit our Coronavirus information page at www.atlantic.edu/coronavirus.
