Dr Gaba Message - January 22

January 22, 2020

Dear College Community:

Happy New Year! I want to take this moment to welcome back our faculty from winter break and hope you have a wonderful Spring semester. With education at our core, we appreciate that you are dedicated to providing a high quality education and student experience.

I wanted to update you on a few items as we start our new semester!

Free-Tuition (CCOG) Update

This Fall semester, 488 students took advantage of more than $730,000 in CCOG awards in addition to Pell and other financial resources. Students who qualify for CCOG will find it financially easier to attend college since tuition is covered by the grant. I continue to work with the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC) and our State legislators for the continuation of this grant for next year.

Facility and Technology Capital Investments

We continue with our capital improvements of our oldest buildings on our Mays Landing Campus utilizing Chapter 12 funding. We will begin building renovations and roofing projects shortly on D-building vacated by Testing. This summer we will be refurbishing the hallways, offices and classrooms in K-building and H-building. I look forward to sharing more about these projects during the upcoming “College-Wide” Meeting.

We are investing in our technology infrastructure. For example, to improve the College’s WIFI system, it is going to be updated at all three campuses utilizing Chapter 12 funding. Additionally, the College has invested in Ellucian’s CRM Advise. It will be used to increase engagement, retention and student success outcomes by improving communication with students, faculty, staff and counselors.

These are just a few examples of how we continue to invest in our beautification programs, as well as our facilities and technology infrastructure to enhance the staff and student experience.

Final Thoughts

I firmly believe that together we are making a positive impact for our students. We only get one chance to make a difference with each student. While we have made some amazing progress, we still have much work to be done. Every day, together we are making positive changes. I couldn't be more proud!

I look forward to seeing you at the “College-Wide” Meeting on February 14 at 2pm in the Theater at the Mays Landing Campus, and via Zoom from the Cape May County Campus and the Worthington Atlantic City Campus. I will provide an overview of our accomplishments, discuss the State of the College and talk about some of our additional upcoming projects.

Have a great Spring semester!

Sincerely,

Dr. Barbara Gaba
