Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Security and Public Safety.  This position requires rotating shifts at any Atlantic Cape location.  This is an “essential staff” position requiring duties to be performed in all weather and emergency conditions. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the director with various law enforcement and security functions
  • Protects life and property of individuals and the college
  • Completes preliminary investigations of incidents
  • Advises director of significant incidents at assigned locations
  • Directs security personnel and equipment response in the absence of the director
  • Monitors security equipment and supplies
  • Assists director in reviewing security programs, systems and procedures
  • Maintains security incident log, completes monthly reports and prepares duty schedules for all campuses
  • Advises director of changes in assigned location with regard to use, personnel, facilities, procedures, etc.
  • Performs duties of Security Officer I
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Certified in CPR & First Aid

 

Experience

  • Experience within public safety in a higher educational setting preferred 
  • Experience handling difficult or emergency/crisis situations in a calm manner, and prioritizing matters based on potential threat or safety level
  • Experience with and/or understanding of Title IX and Clery Act preferred

Competencies and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and law enforcement procedures and ability to work under adverse conditions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communications, specifically with customer relations and incident reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office products
  • Must be proficient using the Competitive edge security reporting program

  • Must pass an employment physical examination administered through the human resources
  • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation and a valid N.J. driver’s license
  • Must not possess criminal record
