Duties:
  • Reports to the Supervisor, Facilities Operations
  • Conducts basic inspections and performs preventative maintenance on HVACR systems and respective control systems
  • Conducts preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities
  • Conducts regular building maintenance inspections
  • Assures that overall facilities conditions are safe
  • Retrieves, responds to and completes work order requests
  • Trains, works with and delegates assignments to part-time maintenance worker
  • Working independently, performs troubleshooting and required repairs within skill level
  • Conducts basic inspections of alarm systems, doors/windows and related hardware, fire suppression systems, boilers and associated delivery and support systems troubleshooting within skill level
  • Removes/controls snow and ice
  • Assists housekeeping and furniture/equipment setups/relocations as needed
  • Provides basic customer service relations services
  • Meets, greets and directs students and campus visitors
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years’ experience maintaining and performing preventive maintenance for two mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Must pass an employment physical examination administered by the college’s health office
  • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and a valid N.J. driver’s license
  • Ability to lift objects of about 50 pounds
  • Ability to work shift duty and 24 hour call-in service

Terms of Employment: 

  • This position is primarily located at the Cape May County campus but may require shifts at any Atlantic Cape Community College location. 
  • This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy and the bargaining unit agreement.  It requires duties to be performed in all weather or emergency conditions.
