Provides visionary leadership, strategic planning and policy development for the athletic program that is committed to the College’s mission and strategic priorities. Plans, directs and coordinates the operations of the athletic program and in compliance with Title IX, NJCAA rules, policies, procedures and guidelines established by Atlantic Cape Community College.

Duties:
  • Reports to the Dean of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management
  • Assures compliance with all NJCAA and Title IX rules and regulations
  • Processes and submits required documentation and reports for eligibility and compliance in a timely manner
  • Recruits staff and coaches and makes recommendations for hire in accordance with college policy
  • Supervises, evaluates and provides professional development opportunities for athletic staff and coaches
  • Coordinates supervision of all home games and athletic activities and assigns officials
  • Recruits student athletes ensuring full compliance with NJCAA rules
  • Prepares athletic budget, allocates funds, makes recommendations for athletic purchases, improvement of athletic facilities within budget constraints
  • Represents Atlantic Cape at all Garden State Athletic Conference and other athletic related meetings
  • Assists student athletes with the enrollment process including communicating with academic advisors regarding the enrollment process and monitoring their eligibility status
  • Develops an overall strategic plan to build capacity of the athletic programs, providing motivation and direction to implement plan
  • Develops a functional knowledge of all sports and actively seeks to develop new methods and strategies for each sport
  • Works with College Relations regarding marketing and statements to the Press
  • Prepares athletic schedule, monitors athletics website and submits updates in a timely manner
  • Communicates with the Admissions office on a regular basis to remain current of college programs and recruitment strategies
  • Develops strong professional relationships with college staff, faculty and external constituencies to aid in recruitment and other opportunities
  • Oversees the inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms
  • Remains current of various rules and regulations, schedules and collegiate athletic information
  • Promotes academic success to maximize the educational potential of all student athletes
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in Sports Administration or related field preferred
  • Coaching and administrative/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Intercollegiate athletics and NCAA rules preferred
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and willingness to work with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, disability, gender identity, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must possess or obtain CPR/First AID/AED Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to travel and work inconsistent hours, including evening and weekends
  • Possession of valid NJ driver’s license

This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
